Matt was open and honestly shared what he could. He was respectable on stage and at events, but not without some wit. I am sharing a photo where he is covering a BING logo on a shirt and I am giving him bunny ears. A moment later he is playfully returning the favor. Matt is a genuine human being and I am grateful to know him.

He also had a home life, outside of the SEO stardom. He confided that his wife made him take out the garbage or clean the cat's litter box after coming home form his Rock-Star status at events. He said it helped bring him back down to earth. She was good for him. My wife who traveled with me said she caught Matt and his bride sight seeing in Seattle. Matt kept her from the SEO limelight but never far from his heart.

Matt and I have talked together, laughed together, shot pool together, and now I mourn for and with my friend Matt.
