I think the ‘YOU’ in the question, "How has Matt Cutts helped you?" is a bit of an understatement. One of the things that made Matt who he is, was because he took the initiative of communication with the industry on behalf of Google in his first appearance in WebmasterWorld.com back in 2001. It was a gutsy move to take on board the masses flocking for answers in the race to get some sort of guidance on mastering techniques to be among the top 10 blue links on any given search query. So that YOU, makes me one more little ant in the farm working towards a common goal. That initiative from Matt only grew from there in part thanks to leaders like Danny and Brett providing a platform for all of us to carefully listen when Matt was in a panel. From there, that was just the beginning. He continued to find creative ways using forums, his blog, YouTube, guest articles and so on, so that we could dissect every little piece of knowledge to become the best at what each of us wanted to be in our quest to be #1 for any user intent relative to our business or field. Sure many of us could talk about stories of the many times Matt was open with any of us in a quick chat here or there, or him personally responding to an email request, but that is who Matt is, probably the most generous member Google has ever had who wanted to provide greatest influence in the online marketing community for the greater good. It’s clear that Matt’s new role outside of Google is to follow the same mission of continuity for the greater good of the Internet. One day I know I will tell my grandchildren, I had the privilege of having a conversation with the greats of Vint Cerf, Larry Page and of course Matt Cutts. Gracias Amigo!
