I've been in this industry fun from the start, from when it turned from an obscure thing a few of us did to an actual profession and I fondly recall the emergence of GoogleGuy on the forums.

GoogleGuy was a force for positive change. He helped incorrect assumptions becoming SEO lore and therefore saved Mom&Pop sites, businesses backed by their owner's domestic mortgage money, from having those mistakes played out on them.

We didn't just listen to GoogleGuy because he was right. We listened because he was fair and helpful. In the early days it wasn't even clear if he was operating with the company's blessing and I felt a huge debt of gratitude towards him for his time and his commitment to the growing community.
