The answer to this question is too much to begin to tally. I started my SEO agency in 2005, and for so many years, Matt was the guiding force behind helping me and and so many of my colleagues in navigating the changes and updates from Google.

I first had the privilege of speaking on a panel with Matt at SMX Advanced in 2009. It was Matt, Rand and me. NO PRESSURE! But Matt was so kind and friendly, no one could ever feel uncomfortable around him. He always has made everyone feel welcomed. I've long suffered from imposter syndrome, but immediately Matt helped me feel that I belonged on that panel.

I spoke on panels with him several times after that, and the story was always the same. Matt has always been an affable, approachable person, and I think that's why he was so loved by so many SEOs. He's clearly a very intelligent person, but he always seems to explain complex issues in a way that everyone comprehends.

While, I, like many SEOs, was disappointed to see him leave Google, his new role at the US Digital Service seemed a great fit as well. I know we all were happy for him in his new role. But he is still missed today. Matt Cutts' shoes at Google are tough to adequately fill. He's one of a kind, and I so much appreciate all he did for me and for all SEOs.

Thank you, Matt. I hope you truly know how much we all appreciate all you have done for us!
