When I was 16 and fearful of people in college finding out "what I did online", I used the pen name Dave Cunningham to keep my SEO agency private from lots of what would probably be strange questions.

Matt had just started putting out webmaster videos and I started transcribing them for him (this was 12 years ago so auto transcribing wasn't really a thing) and posting the results on my blog. Matt reached out to me in private to make sure it was OK for him to link to my site, and then shared the resource in a future blog post.

I'll never forget how open he was to someone new to the world of SEO and how willing he has been over the years to help webmasters.

I never envied the position he was in and how much pressure he could face each day, but he handled it all incredibly well.
