I met Matt at Pubcon in 2012 prior to his keynote and there was a line formed to simply speak with him. I was working as an in-house digital marketer at the time and we were facing some pretty terrible negative SEO which was hurting our organic rankings and business. I feared for losing my job and was very nervous to even approach Matt since there was a long line of folks waiting to ask him questions. Matt couldn't have been nicer when trying to ease an intimidated young professional's mind. I was also afraid I could lose my job or if we couldn't fix things. Matt may not remember telling me, "Not to worry." Listened to my troubles. Then told me, "We're launching something today that will help you." Shortly afterwards, he unveiled the Disavow tool which ended up brining our company "back into the daylight" when it comes to search. I ended up keeping my job there and grew as a professional since then. It was a brief encounter with Matt, but I'll likely remember it for the rest of my career.
