I had no idea who Matt was when I first started doing some SEO work for an agency a few years ago. One of the developers said to me one day that "Matt Cutts says that doesn't matter, he's the SEO guy for Google." I then read up on Matt and learned he had just taken sabbatical to work for with the USDS, which I thought was pretty cool (still do). A couple weeks later we were discussing vanity TLD's in the office and making fun of how some people were using them. I jokingly typed into my search bar "seo.ninja" and was taken to Matts tounge-in-cheek landing page for his blog. I thought it was hilarious that the head of a search team at Google would create such an outdated looking page on a joke domain. I still think it's hilarious. I mean, someone's gotta be paying for that hosting right? Though I didn't work in the industry when Matt was around, I can tell that his voice is surely missed. Best Wishes to you in the future, Matt. Thank you for your service to the SEO community and now the government.
