There is a rather fun photo of you and Duane flanking me on either side, but it is too blurry to post. Perhaps you remember taking it. I did want to take a minute to say thanks. When I started working in search in 2000, we were trying to find our way with dimly lit flashlights. You shined a bright light on how search engines really work, and made us (me at least) care about doing what was good for users. Matt, I watched every one of your webmaster videos, I read every blog you ever posted, I followed every tweet. I chatted with Googleguy on WMW. Your steadfast dedication to a better internet and search experience is part of what inspired me to continue in search. I was terribly aggravated at Google during the Penguin years, but I really admire your ability to rise above - to continue helping people while staying out of the fray as much as possible. I admire your commitment to your family and your cats, and I'm so sorry again about the loss of your beloved wife. I have every confidence that our US Digital Service is better for your participation, and I hope you continue to stay connected with your search family. Thanks Matt. You're the pioneer that makes things better for those who come after.
